Specification of Spiral Wound Gasket / Packing Baja
This SWG is a kind of gasket consisting of a metal / steel strip and softly coated with a non-metallic filler. SWG functions as a spring between the flanges which is suitable for sealing changes in temperature and pressure that often occur, such as pipes, pumps, valves, etc. This SWG is available in all standard flange sizes such as: ANSI, JIS, PN, etc.
This SWG also has an outer ring consisting of a metal guide ring and a sealing element that provides additional radial strength to prevent gasket explosion and stop compression. The outering is made of carbon steel (coated paint to prevent corrosion) but can be fabricated from SS304, SS316, etc. for higher temperatures and more severe media applications.
SWG also has an inner ring. Innering serves as a compression stopper and fills between the flange bore and the inner diameter. Designed to prevent solids accumulation and minimize flange face erosion.
